GEOINSTRUMENTS

The following is a summary of the geophysical instrumentation that are available through Alpha Geoscience.

SEISMIC

The Geometrics range of seismographs caters for the full range of geophysical applications. The systems go from 12 channel to 100’s of channels, depending on the task at hand. These units can be used for seismic refraction, reflection and surface wave. For further information see dedicated Geometrics page on this website.

GROUND PENETRATING RADAR (GPR)

The Mala range of GPR systems include a full spectrum of GPR applications from the very shallow, concrete investigations (using 1.2 or 1.6 GHz antenna) to the deep geological targets (using frequencies of 25 or 50 MHz). Mala CUII console supports all of the shielded and unshielded antennas. Mala systems also support borehole antenna of 50, 100 and 250 MHz. MAGNETOMETER

Geometrics has a full range of magnetometers for ground, airborne and marine. These units include cesium and proton sensors. The magnetometers can be configured with GPS for positional information and, using Magmapper 2000, the data can be processed and displayed.  For further information see dedicated Geometrics page on this website.

RESISTIVITY

ABEM manufacture a range of Resistivity Meters including the Terrameter SAS 4000 and 1000 and the Lund Imaging System for automatic resistivity and induced polarization imaging. These units can be used for various applications including groundwater mapping.   The Geometrics OhmMapper system can be used for speedy resistivity surveying

ELECTRO-MAGNETICS

Time Domain EM: The new terraTEM system combines the transmitter and receiver in one unit. It has either single or 3 channel receivers with a 10 amp transmitter. All control is through a touch screen which is 15” with high visibility in daylight. It has a high speed sampling at 500 kHz for superior near surface resolution. It has integrated data processing and interpretation for in- field viewing of data. The unit has an optional 12 channel GPS system. Frequency Domain EM: Electromagnetic (EM) geophysical instruments for conductivity surveys of soil, groundwater, minerals and bedrock, and detection of buried metal. The patented DUALEM coil geometry explores simultaneously to two distinct depths.

VLF RECEIVER

The ABEM Wadi is one of the most suitable units for use in mineral or conductor mapping.   It is an excellent tool for finding fractured bedrock (and therefore water).The unit is portable and easy to operate.

MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY

The ZH Instruments range of magnetic susceptibility meters includes a very portable pocket size unit called the SM-30. This unit has a high sensitivity of 1x10-7 SI units,
a memory and RS-232 output.
