| Alpha Geoscience 2010 Review - A Year of Growth |
Alpha Geoscience begins 2011 with a vision.
Growth in SalesAlpha Geoscience is the exclusive worldwide distributor for the terraTEM and the magROCK products used by scientists in various applications. In the last twelve months orders for the terraTEM have doubled, with the majority of orders coming from outside Australia, and from a wide range of countries on all continents. Alpha has also enjoyed a rise in demand for contracting and consulting services, sending staff around the world to work on survey and other projects.
Growth in ReputationAlpha has invested heavily in building on a strong international reputation for quality and expertise. In 2010 Alpha Geoscience was independently assessed and certified to conduct its operations in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 Quality management licence. In August Alpha was chosen as a Finalist in the Minerals & Energy category of the Premier’s NSW Export Awards. Alpha Geoscience won Best Exhibit at the ASEG-PESA Geophysical Exhibition in Sydney in October. Alpha has been appointed to the Australian Government Defence Unexploded Ordnance Panel (DUXOP) for a three year term. Alpha is on the DUXOP as a consultant in UXO matters and as a geophysical contractor. Alpha has also been appointed to the NSW Government RTA Panel of Professional Services Contractors for geophysical surveying services. Lastly, Alpha joined the Australian Institute of Export (AIEx), the leading industry body for International Trade.
Growth in PersonnelIn 2010 Alpha welcomed Senior Geophysicist Sue Jaggar to complement the staff of qualified and trained geophysical personnel for the Alpha Geoscience business. Sue has extensive experience in Airborne Geophysics in Mineral and Geological investigations, and all aspects of survey work, from data acquisition and Project Management through to interpretation and training. Alpha has also recognised the importance of marketing to the growth of sales and in August 2010 appointed David Maegraith to the role of Marketing Coordinator. David has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and specialises in digital marketing and international strategy, having worked in the US, Chile, Germany and the UK.
Growth in Marketing2010 saw Alpha significantly boost marketing output in traditional and new media forms, and live events. Alpha promoted the terraTEM and other products and services through print ads and editorial in Preview, the magazine of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG), and through a print and online campaign with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) online and in their publication The Leading Edge. Visitor traffic to the Alpha Geoscience website grew as the company embraced digital initiatives such as a strong social media presence through LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter; a Chinese-language website for terraTEM; and creating professional videos on terraTEM and other products for promotion on YouTube and other sites.
